Kingside Break is a fantasy chess puzzle adventure game born out of the idea "I'd like to become better at chess."
It follows the player through 8 realms of the game-world as the player liberates different races from the grip of the undead overlord residing in the Pale Castle. The path to the generals of each realm is a series of difficulty-progressing chess puzzles, as well as chess battles against checkpoint wardens and realm generals following the official chess rule set.
Each victory grants rewards in gold, which the player can use to purchase puzzle hints, Hero cosmetics, and Piece cosmetics to customize the player's chess set army. The underlying philosophy is that the game will never become P2W, and gold cannot be purchased with real money. Any DLC packs sold will strictly remain cosmetic.
As each general of the realm is defeated, the player is able to recruit the race into their army of chess pieces to customize the look and feel of your army.
The in-game AI is tuned to mimic actual human errors depending on difficulty with the goal of enabling players to feel that they are matched against similar-level players, not computers following an algorithm.
